Né à Milan le 1er août 1948, il obtient un diplôme en littérature moderne de l'Université d'État de Milan.

C'est en Nouvelle-Zélande, en 1984, qu'il a rencontré la technique Vipassana. Puis, en 1985, il retourne en Italie pour approfondir l'efficacité de la technique. Il se consacre passionnément à sa diffusion, en tant que bénévole.

Sayagyi U Ba Khin

U Ba Khin est né à Yangon pendant le régime colonial britannique . En mars 1899, il réussit l'examen final du lycée et remporte une médaille d'or ainsi qu'une bourse d'études collégiales. Les pressions familiales l'obligent à interrompre ses études pour commencer à gagner de l'argent. Son premier travail a été pour un journal birman appelé The Sun, mais après un certain temps, il a commencé à travailler comme commis aux comptes dans le bureau du comptable général de la Birmanie. En 1926, il réussit l'examen du service de la comptabilité donné par le gouvernement provincial indien. En 1947, lorsque la Birmanie fut séparée de l'Inde, il fut nommé premier surintendant du bureau spécial.
